In 2007 long term modeller and Totem Timber managing director Roger Parnell in a response to the lack of a good RC model shop in Plymouth area, was unable to get the model goods that he wanted locally decided to start his own model shop. The shop was run by Roger’s son and director of Totem Timber, Shaun Parnell until 2009.
Totem Hobbies was born.
In 2009 Kevin Waite came on board. Kevin, who has been a modeller for over 35 years and has worked in the model industry for over 30 years, now runs the business on a daily basis. With extensive knowledge and experience in most modelling topics and a past Southwest Regional Champion in 1/10 off road car racing was sponsored by companies like Schumacher Racing, Trinity, Parma, Tenth Technology, CML and Lesro Models is well placed to pass on his knowledge to newcomers. He went back to flying model planes and helicopters around 8 years ago, the part of our hobby that he started in over 35 years ago.
We are now the Southwest’s largest model shop and located in the grounds of Totem Timber in the Cattedown area of Plymouth. We offer goods from all aspects of RC modelling from aircraft, helicopters, cars and boats to plastic kits and Scalextric racing car sets. Our stock is changing and growing as the market changes and our aim is to be one of the best model shops in the country. Customers are welcome to call in at our large retail premises, order by telephone or on this website.
Our website is growing daily and we stock a very large number of products in the shop that will gradually be put on the website. A very important note about our website, unlike some other online traders, our website shows live stock availability and is updated from our computer system every 10 minutes. So if the website does not say the item you want is out of stock, then we do have it.
